It appears that Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar has realized that the destructive Tamnar Project will not see the light of the day. He should now focus on getting power from the Western Grid and also work on encouraging Solar Power Generation in the State, stated Congress Media Department Chairman Amarnath Panjikar.
Addressing a Press Conference at Congress House in Panaji along with Mandrem Block President Narayan Redkar and Saligao Block President Atul Naik, Congress Leader Amarnath Panjikar said that INDIA Government after coming to power in June will immediately initiate the process to scrap the Three Linear Projects which include laying of Power Transmission Line. He slammed the BJP Government for bringing Projects causing destruction to Environment, Forest and Wildlife.
Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar in a way exposed the BJP Government which deliberately did not explore the options of getting required power from the Western Grid up to Colvale, where infrastructure is ready to take it up to Xeldem Power Station. Our Government will utilize this infrastructure to save the Environment, Forest and Wildlife, claimed Amarnath Panjikar.
Karnataka Congress Government has rejected the proposal of diverting the Forest Land in favor of Power Lines for Goa Tamnar Power Project. The decision of the Forest, Ecology & Environment Department of Karnataka is to Conserve & Protect Forest for posterity. BJP Government in Goa is all out to destroy Environment, Forest and Wildlife, said Amarnath Panjikar.
BJP Government failed to promote Solar Power Generation in the State. The latest information provided by the power minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar to the Goa Legislative Assembly reveals that the total Solar Power generated in Goa is only 46.97 Mega Units. This exposes the complete failure of the power minister, who has now become a Brand Ambassador of BJP to save his Chair, Amarnath Panjikar added.
I am surprised that Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar conveniently did not speak on the Deaths of 55 Government Staff, 7 Citizens and 17 Animals due to Electrocution in last 5 years even after Government spent almost 12000 crores on Improvisation and Maintenance of Power Transmission and Distribution System in Goa, stated Amarnath Panjikar.
We demand that the power minister Sudin Dhavalikar should announce the timeline by which the Electricity Department will recover 1400 crores from the Industrial, Commercial & Government Consumers who are Defaulters of Electricity Bills. Insensitive BJP Government disconnects Electricity connections of Domestic Consumers if the Citizens fail to pay small Bill amounts of 500 but allows Industrialists and Businessman to default for years, said Amarnath Panjikar.
I am sure Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar has realised that the Tamnar Project will never be a reality and hence has spoken about the alternate solutions of getting power to meet with the demand in the State. INDIA Government led by Congress will respect the Sentiments of the Goans and will ensure that the Power demands of the State are met through other sources, said Amarnath Panjikar.
